What packs a 3.8-litre engine, cranks out 400 horsepower and handles ice better than Torvil and Dean? Whilst you may conjure up all manner of fantasies in your mind, the crown can only be held by one, and the new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 seems to be a decent contender for king of slippery conditions.

It’s an innovative all-wheel-drive defining piece of engineering by the good folks over at Porsche that manages to think on its feet (literally)! The on-board computer is capable of calculating where traction is needed, and it then proceeds to send power between axles to compensate.

62mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 176mph are some rather lovely stats whilst it retains 28mpg for those who wish to take this car on those long journeys and worry about fuel consumption over speed and sheer oomph. We suggest you let Gordon talk you through this capable machine with the video below.
